Alexandra Gatt

Ms. Alexandra Gatt was born in Sliema and started her career with the Public Service in 1982 at the Ministry for Finance, following her post-secondary education at The New Lyceum in Msida.
In 2003 Ms. Gatt was appointed Control Officer at the newly established Lotteries & Gaming Authority, where she was entrusted with the licensing and regulation of Remote Gaming Companies and formed part of the working party for the enactment of the Remote Gaming Regulations published in April 2004. During her time at the LGA Ms. Gatt represented the Authority at various gaming conferences mostly in London, Barcelona and Copenhagen, and complemented her practical experience with a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Henley Business School at the University of Reading.
In 2014 Ms. Gatt was appointed Assistant Director (Human Resources) within the Ministry for Education & Employment, and in 2015 she was appointed Director of Industrial and Employment Relations within the Ministry for Social Dialogue, Consumer Affairs & Civil Liberties, the first woman to hold this headship position. During this time she also served as Deputy Chairperson on various boards such as the Employment Relations Board and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority, and Member of the Board for the Centre for Labour Studies at the University of Malta. During this time, Ms. Gatt was also responsible for the tripartite delegation attending the International Labour Conference held annually in Geneva, including representation of the European Union, on behalf of the Presidency of the EU in 2017, when H.E Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, President of the Republic, addressed the World of Work Summit dealing with Gender Equality in the World of Work.
Ms Gatt was appointed Director Healthcare Standards within the Ministry for Health in 2022, where she is responsible for licensing and regulation of healthcare institutions at a national level.
